Meet Our Pastor
Hello, I’m Pastor Steve Curtis. My wife Robin and I have spent close to 30 years ministering throughout Camden County, Georgia.
When I was fourteen years old I sensed God moving in my life and from that point on I knew I would be surrendered to Christ and His church, and more specifically pastoring. After high school, Robin and I, newly married, spent the next four years in Springfield, Missouri at Baptist Bible College and Seminary preparing for what God had in store.
From 1980 through 1984 we had the privilege of working on staff in three churches in Tennessee and Texas. In 1984 God lead us to start a church in Valley View, Pennsylvania.
In 1988 our family founded a small Baptist church located in Kingsland, Georgia with twelve others excited about seeing this new work flourish. In just a few years God grew the church to over one hundred people. However, during this time our family experienced some difficult situations that almost derailed and destroyed our marriage. By God’s grace we turned to Him and began to see healing and restoration in our family.
Through this experience, God impressed upon our hearts the importance of ministering to others that are hurting and the desire to plant a church that could meet the needs of individuals and young families that are struggling.
This desire developed into a calling to create a culture where people could find answers to their hurts and problems through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is only in Jesus Christ that we can deal with the sin that has disrupted and destroyed so many lives. It is our desire that we learn from His Word, and we are led by the Holy Spirit, so that we can fully follow Jesus Christ.
From this passion, Southeast Community Church was born.
