Backpacks For Kids
Backpacks for Kids is a program that reaches school aged children in our community who are on the free/reduced lunch program. Children are screened by guidance counselors, and we are then given a number from the schools of children to serve. Each child receives a bag of food every Friday that includes meals for 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners and snacks for the weekend.
Bags are delivered by volunteers each week to the local schools in Camden County. Funds received by Backpacks are used to buy food from Second Harvest Food Bank in Brunswick, Georgia. This ministry has been operating since 2011 and continues to grow each year.
It is our desire to expand service to include middle and high school students in the near future.
